Fishing Tackle & Accessories
Fishing tackle is the equipment that ties you to the fish. I know when you go to the tackle store your
like a kid in a candy shop. So much to choose from. Wondering what they used to catch that big stringer
of fish you just saw at the cleaning table. Lets start with rods and reels. Everyone is built a little
different with various degrees of ability. It is very important to make long accurate casts. You will
need that right combination that fits you. I prefer Kistler rods. These rods are rugged and
have some great backbone. For reels, Quantum is my choice
Whether you use baitcaster or spinning makes little difference. You must be comfortable using
it. I feel a baitcaster has a big advantage, in top water lure fishing either will work. I like a shorter
stiffer rod for topwater lure fishing also I feel I have better lure control and can control fish better
when wade fishing.
When it comes to soft plastic lures, the choices seem unending from different manufactures to color. I
use several myself. Stanley makes the wedgetail and I have great success with them. Stanley also makes
the swimmax jig a new style jig head that allows you to bring your lure through cover easily and lets it
fall more naturally. I use 1/8 oz and weightless in 0-5 hook size. The devil eye by brown lures is a sure
fish catcher I use it with the swimmax also. Fishbellys is a fairly new lure I am enjoying great success
with.
When it comes to wade fishing, having comfortable equipment is a must, starting with good fitting
waders. Boots for me are most important. I like to get them several sizes larger making sure my
waders fit inside with ease. There is nothing worse then cold feet and tight fitting boots means cold
feet. I use Rayguard boots. It's better to be safe than sorry .
Wading belts come in many different styles. I use Walk and Wade this belt has everything you need to
stash every thing and has great back support. Long lasting has always been the reputation of a Walk And
Wade belt. I prefer stinky pants stringers they are great. I hope I never have to use a rope
stringer again.
I hope I helped you with some of your decisions. Please don't hesitate to call and talk fishing Any of
the sites listed on my web are tried and true and have great products.
Tight Lines,
Capt. Mike
